Arsenal Players Hail David Luiz's Influence At The Club

David Luiz’s arrival at the Emirates has not been as disastrous as you may have been led to believe.

An £8m move from Chelsea raised plenty of eyebrows on transfer deadline day and after the first half of the season, Luiz was already facing the brunt of the Arsenal fans.

He struggled under Unai Emery and only made the Gunners defence from early evidence. However, the Brazilian hit a turning point after Mikel Arteta’s arrival, playing a major role in uplifting the team’s backline. His leadership and winning mentality showed in his performances on the pitch.

Very quickly he became the rock in the Arsenal backline, playing an important role in launching attacks from deep. Joe Willock and Calum Chambers revealed just how big Luiz’s personality is, praising his influence on the rest of the team.

“The player I look up to most at Arsenal has to be David Luiz,” Willock said. “Not only is he an amazing player, he’s an amazing person as well. He’s like a mentor and a big brother to me.”

That is no small praise coming from an Arsenal academy graduate. Chambers said something similar regarding the Brazilian – “David has been brilliant, he has come in and no-one in the club has a bad word to say about him. He is one of the nicest guys I have met, he talks to you, gives you advice and makes everyone feel like he is giving you his undivided attention.”

That is certainly the type of attitude Arsenal have been missing for some time. His two-year deal at North London might be beneficial in rectifying the club’s position in English football.
