Arsenal Targeting Kevin Volland At Cut-Price Deal

Arsenal are strongly considering a move Bayer Leverkusen forward, Kevin Volland.

Sky Sports understands the Gunners are currently monitoring Vollands situation in Germany.

The versatile plays centrally for Leverkusen but can be deployed anywhere in the final third as well. He only has 18 months left on his contract and could be signed out at a bargain price.

Mikel Arteta recognizes the pressing issues at Arsenal, one of them being the lack of goal threat up front. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seems to be the only one carrying the torch up front with 18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli second behind him.

It is imperative for the Spanish coach to get the team back to winning ways and hopefully secure an European qualification spot this season. Arteta took note of the players’ body langugage in the 0-0 Everton draw last weekend.

He already coached his first training session with the players who mostly did not partake in the Goodison Park fixture. Nicholas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil – all were in attendance. We will get to see the new coach’s impact on their trip to Dean Court on Boxing Day.

Arsenal are still believed to be a good team with their striking lineup being the strongest. If anything, Arteta might need to address the defence and midfield rather than spend funds on another striker. And otherwise, Volland is only an above average striker in the Bundesliga, nowhere close to the levels of Lacazette or Aubameyang.
