Arsenal told to ignore James Maddison transfer and solve two important problems

James Maddison has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the 24-year old midfielder in order to bolster their creative presence in the midfield.

Maddison registered 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions last season and according to various reports is keen on joining Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners are on the hunt for a creative midfielder now that Odegaard’s move to the Emirates seems highly unlikely.

But former England striker Darren Bent has urged Edu to work on bolstering the centre midfield and right-back area and ignore Maddison transfer in the process.

“[Maddison] is a fantastic player,” Bent told talkSPORT.

“I’d love to see him in an Arsenal shirt, but I believe there’s other positions that are probably more important than maybe getting that playmaker.

“We’ve just seen Smith Rowe, who was brilliant last season, signing a new contract. We’ve still got [Bukayo] Saka there too.

“Of course you want good players in, and Maddison is a very good player, but maybe another central midfielder, maybe a right-back? A right-back would be important.”
