The Spaniard will be given a budget of £50 million

Arsene Wenger has left Arsenal after 22 years reign with the club. He has won 10 major trophies with the club which includes 7 FA cups and 3 Premier League titles.

Unai Emery has been appointed as the new manager of the Gunners and likely to be busy in the transfer window in order to strengthen the squad for next season. The club have endured an underwhelming campaign, finishing 6th in the league and will miss the Champions League next season.

Former PSG boss have been given only £50 million to spend this summer and it will be a no match to the big spending of rivals Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown fears the budget will not be enough to to address defensive issues. He wants the Spaniard to manage his transfer funds carefully and choose which areas to strengthen.

Keown told the Daily Mail on the transfer dilemma facing Emery: “He has to assess whether Arsenal’s central defenders are good enough for him.

“Laurent Koscielny is out for six months, Per Mertesacker has retired, Shkodran Mustafi has had a difficult season and he also has two young defenders in Rob Holding and Calum Chambers.

“There will have to be a different message with more emphasis on defence than attack.

“It will be encouraging for Ivan Gazidis that Emery has already identified areas where he can improve the players already at Arsenal.

“With reports of only £50 million to spend, a lot of the change is going to have to take place on the training pitch.”

Dembele joined the La Liga giants from Borussia Dortmund for a deal worth £135.5 million. His outstanding displays in Germany caught the attention of the club and led them to pay such a hefty amount.

But the 21 year old struggled with injuries since the move and after regaining fitness he has failed to make an impact for the club. He has just managed to make 23 appearances in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and assisting 6.

Barca are willing to to sell the France International this summer if a tempting offer is tabled as they are looking to free up space and raise funds for the signing of Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann this summer, who has been heavily linked with a move to them in recent months.

Unai Emery knows the midfielder very well

Arsenal are expected to overhaul their side this summer after an underwhelming Premier League campaign this season. They finished 6th in the league and will miss the Champions League next season.

One of the key areas the Gunners need to resolve is midfield, Santi Cazaorla have left the club and Aaron Ramsey’s future is still uncertain as he could be sold in order to raise funds which leaves them short in that area.

Unai Emery has been appointed as the new manager for the club and he is likely to be busy in the summer transfer window in order to strengthen the squad for the next season.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Verratti would be the perfect signing for them. He wants the new manager to bring nastiness to the club.

Verratti is considered one of the best midfielders in the world and could be lured away from France if right offer is placed. Emery knows him very well after serving two-year stint at Parc des Princes.

Keown told the Daily Mail on the changes being made in north London: “To expect that Emery will transform this team into champions overnight is unrealistic.

“Arsenal has been run Arsene Wenger’s way for 22 years and, given the sheer spending power of the Manchester clubs, the competition is fierce.

“Emery inherits a side that can do damage in the final third but lacks a steeliness and a nastiness, particularly away from home. If he can restore these ingredients, then Arsenal can at least challenge in the Premier League.

“The fans want to see a team that can dig in, battle and scrap.

“Emery needs to bring in a player like Marco Verratti, who he managed at Paris Saint-Germain, to instil those qualities in midfield.”

Manchester and Juventus were also interested in the goalkeeper

Arsenal are expected to have a busy transfer window after an underwhelming Premier League campaign this season. Unai Emery will replace Arsene Wenger next season and they have completed their first summer signing.

Gunners have signed Estonian teen Karl Jacob Hein. They have beaten competition from the likes of Juventus, Manchester United, Southampton and Brighton. The player even had trials at Turin side and Ingolstadt.

The 16 year old has already made five appearances for Nomme United in the Esiliiga B and has eight caps for Estonia U17s.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Mart Poom who heads Hein’s youth team, has been advising him and believes he can play for the first team.

“The first year is about academic education,” Poom told Postimees Sport .

“Two years later, he will be able to play at U18 level, and then he will be in the U23s. Then it depends on him. We hope he will reach the first team. That’s definitely very difficult, but not impossible.

“It might be said that he joined Arsenal because of me, but this great decision was made by the boy with his family. Each club had certain advantages and disadvantages. I did not put pressure on him to choose Arsenal, but I promised to support him, no matter what decision he made.

“It was, of course, difficult to choose, because this is an extraordinary opportunity for an Estonian these are all three top league clubs, all of which should be very good football education. Arsenal offers him very good conditions for development.

“The small advantage with Arsenal is that I know the people there and in the academy. I can keep an eye on him and advise him if necessary.

“He is talented, hardworking, has the right attitude, a supportive family and big dreams,” he said. “From a physical perspective, he has everything to reach the top. Of course, he must put in a tremendous amount of work for this, to stay healthy and also need some luck.”
