Arsenal Unsure About Ozil And Kolasinac Return

Unai Emery was severely limited with his team selection on Sunday night as Arsenal edged past Newcastle United with a goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners did well to collect an away win in the Premier League opening day weekend but fans were a bit curious over the team that was fielded.

The starting lineup saw three 19-year-olds in Matteo Guendouzi, Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock while Gabriel Martinelli, Nicholas Pepe and Ceballos made their debut appearances later on in the game.

Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac were not even on the team sheet due to security concerns prior to the game. Following the duo’s hairy incident last month when a notorious gang tried to steal a car from them, police are taking extra measures to ensure the players’ safety.

Video of the incident went viral just hours after it occurred, showing Kolasinac jumping out of the car to fight off the goons. The two Gunners players are not cleared to travel in public just yet as they are thought to be targeted by criminals.

Both the players were made to go through a psychological evaluation right after and even made to sit out in the pre-season game against Olympique Lyon.

When asked if they will be available for the next game on Saturday, Emery said, “I don’t know.”

“The club is managing that situation. We want to be with them as soon as possible and to have them ready to play.”
