Unai Emery Optimistic Over Early Return Of Defensive Duo

Arsenal will be happy to hear that Rob Holding and Hector Bellering could be back sooner than expected, according to Unai Emery.

The Spanish head coach was optimistic about the return of his young defensive duo, along with new signing, Kieran Tierney.

Arsenal fans were relieved to collect a 0-1 away victory against Newcastle United on Sunday. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the only goal of the game while being fielded next to a relatively inexperienced attacking counterparts.

Speaking to Football London Emery said, “I want to have very competitive players in each position, with David Luiz, with Holding when he is coming to help us, training regularly and playing minutes. He is going to play tomorrow for the Under-23s.

“Also Hector Bellerin is coming back, I think one month more. Today, we had Sead [Kolasinac] out and Kieran Tierney injured. We want to be strong defensively but above all being an offensive team.”

The Gunners were strong in possession against Steve Bruce’s side but like their usual self, made enough defensive errors to make their fans nervous. Newcastle racked up a few close calls towards the end but none convincing enough to manage a draw.

It was delightful to see three of Arsenal’s summer signings, Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Martinelli all make their debuts last night. Joe Willock was a knockout performer along with Academy teammate, Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
