Barcelona responds to Arsenal links with their ace

The player has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners

Unai Emery was appointed as Arsenal’s new manager back in May after Arsene Wenger decided to leave the club after 22 years at the end of the season. He signed a three-year deal worth £15 million.

The Gunners finished sixth in the Premier League last season and will miss the Champions League next season. The Spaniard has been charged with the task of returning the club to the European elite while challenging for major honours.

It has been a busy transfer for the Premier League giants, as the new boss has brought in new five players, reinforcing the particular areas which needed strengthening to compete for major silverware next season.

Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient, Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund and Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.

Former PSG boss wants two more signings before the transfer window closes and is willing to sell players in order to raise funds. He has prioritized signing a direct, fast winger and the club has been linked with a move for Barcelona ace Ousmane Dembele.

The France International joined the La Liga giants from Borussia Dortmund for a deal worth £135.5 million last summer. His outstanding displays in Germany caught the attention of the club and led them to pay such a hefty amount.

But the 21 year old struggled with injuries since the move and endured a mix season. He just managed to make 23 appearances in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and assisting 6.

The Winger has been linked with a summer exit and there were suggestions that he is also willing to leave in order for more game time. The speculations further intensified when the Spanish side completed the signing of Malcolm earlier this week.

But club manager Ernesto Valverde has ruled out Dembele’s exit and admitted that he is willing to give the player another chance in the upcoming season.

‘Let’s hope it’s his season,’ said Valverde as quoted by Metro.

‘He is an extraordinary player. The past year has been complicated because of the injuries, but even so he has brought us a lot .

‘The important thing is that there is competition within the team. There are a lot of matches and we can not handle them with only eleven players.’
