Mikel Arteta had nothing but praise for Dani Ceballos after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Leicester City.
It was the Spanish midfielder, who practically setup the goal for Arsenal, launching a through ball to Bukayo Saka who squared it off to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a cool finish.
Ceballos was otherwise impressive in the midfield two next to Granit Xhaka. Both midfielders controlled the tempo with the former setting up most of Arsenal’s attacks. He even put in a solid shift defensively, winning tackles and intercepting passes to almost nullify Wilfried Ndidi and Youri Tielemans in the first half.
Arsenal fans also had a turnaround in opinion about the 23-year-old after his recent performances. With each passing game, he seems to be catching on to what Mikel Arteta wants and the coach noticed it.
After the game, Arteta said on Ceballos, “Dani was excellent again. He and Granit bring us a lot of balance. They are evolving a lot together. Defensively Dani has made a big step forward, he’s enjoying himself.”
Overall, missed opportunities and a red card suspension in the second half meant Arsenal had to settle for a point at the Emirates. This will further shrivel their chances of gaining European football for next season. But the players put in a good shift on the pitch, showing a lot of gusto attacking the opposition lineup.
