Arsenal boss Unai Emery told that the substitution of Mesut Ozil in yesterday’s league fixture against Brighton was a tactical decision. Ozil started the match at the Amex Stadium but was replaced at the interval by Alex Iwobi.

An early goal by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Arsenal the lead. However, Jurgen Locadia scored his first goal of the season to equalise for Brighton.

Following the match, Emery said about Ozil’s substitution, “It was tactical. Like before, in other matches, we decided like that. Today is the same because we thought we need some time tactically to do more with more balance so this is the reason.”

Emery also said that the team needs to put in a little more effort in the remainder of the season. He said, “I think we need a little more. From me and from the players because we need to do one step more in our performance. But I am happy with the players, I am happy with out work, with the commitment, with the behaviour.

Also we need to continue in our process and our progress also every player and our work.”

Arsenal are currently 5th in the Premier League table, two points behind 4th placed Chelsea. Their next match is a tough one against current table-toppers Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
