Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has given out an exit warning to Arteta.

He has stated that if he doesn’t get to play more games, he can’t continue at Arsenal for long. Martinez has been playing in place of Bernd Leno since he got injured – and wants to continue this way.

Martinez told Argentine radio station Continental: ‘I have shown the club that I can play for them and when I return next season I need to have more games. That is the only way I will stay at Arsenal.

‘My target is to consolidate my place with Arsenal and to reach the Argentinian national team as No 1.

‘I won’t stop until I get that and if I don’t play for Arsenal, then clearly I would move on.’

Back in July, Arteta had talked about Martinez and his continuing role at Arsenal.

The Arsenal boss said: “Well, in terms of Emi’s character and his goalkeeping ability, I didn’t have any question marks.

“The way he trains every day, behaves and has been behaving since he’s been at the club is phenomenal.

“He was a question mark over how he was going to do because he didn’t have any Premier League experience and how he can deal with that game after game, and he’s shown that he’s more than ready to do it.

“He’s earned his place now, he’s doing really well and he’s playing with a lot of confidence.

So now what will Arteta do with his number 2 goalkeeper?
