Aaron Ramsdale could become Arsenal’s No.1 goalkeeper.

The England international joined the Gunners from Sheffield United in a reported deal of £24m.

He was phenomenal in his previous two clashes against Burnley and Norwich City.

Bernd Leno who’s contract expires in 2023 is expected to leave the North London club next summer after falling out of favour in Arteta’s XI.

England legend David James believes Ramsdale is leading the race to become the No.1 choice and has urged Leno to fight for his place a bit harder this term.

‘Aaron Ramsdale has got an opportunity here to take the number one spot. Bernd Leno, unfortunately, is going to have to do a lot more in training and in the cup games to force his way back in,’ he told Sky Sports News.

‘For me, right now, Ramsdale is the “keeper of the gloves”.’

After winning last week’s game against Burnley, Mikel Arteta praised Ramsdale for the impact he had since arriving at the club.

‘That’s his character and his leadership. That’s how he presents himself as a person as well and that’s what I like. He has a presence and he dominates his area,’ Arteta told a press conference.
