Mikel Arteta’s decision to let Aubameyang go for free will haunt them.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left Arsenal on a free transfer to join La Liga giants Barcelona and has been an exceptional transfer for the Catalan giants.

Mikel Arteta banished Aubameyang from the first team back in December after a disciplinary breach.

The duo had a falling out and Aubameyang eventually secured a free transfer to Barcelona.

But his transfer didn’t affect much to the team as they were winning matches but are struggling for a top-four finish with consecutive losses in recent games.

Pundit Gabby Agbonlahor believes it was mistake to let Aubameyang leave Anfield at this stage of the season.

He tells Football Insider: “The decision let Aubameyang go was criminal. They should’ve kept him and maybe not started him if he wasn’t performing.

“This is where managers earn their money, get Aubameyang back in love with Arsenal and get him scoring goals.

“The big reason Arsenal will miss out on the top four is their strikers. It was a big mistake by Arteta.”
