Both Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney are out for the remainder of the season.

The Gunners will be without their key midfielder Thomas Partey due to a thigh injury and his absence will surely cause an imbalance in the midfield position.

The duo has joined Takehiro Tomiyasu in the treatment room who had a calf injury back in January.

Alexandre Lacazatte missed training from last week and Areta refuses to comment on what’s going on behind closed doors.

The manager said: “Obviously there are private reasons that I cannot comment on, but I have no other team news to give other than the guys we have discussed.

“We will see if he’s available. It’s a good possibility that that’s the case.”

The Spaniard was later quizzed on the extent of Thomas Partey’s injury.

“Yes, the news that we got after a lot of assessments is not great.

“It’s not looking very positive for his availability this season, but we’ll have to wait and see because he’s trying to get back as quickly as possible, but at the moment we are not very optimistic about it.”
