Mesut Ozil's Arsenal Career Is Done - Ray Parlour

Mesut Ozil might be closer to the end of his Arsenal career than we all might think, according to Ray Parlour.

The Gunners legend has noticed how badly Ozil’s stock has fallen in the North London outfit over the past 18 months.

The German was included in 4 games out of the 11 played this season in which he started 2 and was not even introduced as a substitute in the other 2. Academy youngsters, Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson has gotten the nod more often than Ozil as Nicholas Pepe seems to be a guaranteed starter on the right wing.

Gabriel Martinelli has also impressed enough to break into the Premier League squad while loan-signing, Dani Ceballos continues to feature in Ozil’s usual spot.

“I have been really impressed by the youngsters coming through, from Arsenal’s point of view. Ozil’s not even in the squad now. I think that’s probably the end of his career at Arsenal,” Parlour told TalkSport.

“You have got youngsters that deserve an opportunity probably more than him at the moment. [Bukayo] Saka has come in on the left-hand side, you have got [Gabriel] Martinelli, from Arsenal’s point of view going forward he’s been excellent. [Dani] Ceballos played at the weekend. They have got lots of options now.”

Unai Emery truly has enough options in the midfield after the strong recruitment process this summer but does it justify completely excluding Ozil from the side?
