Willian had an unsuccessful spell at Arsenal last season.

The Brazilian winger joined the North London club last summer as a free agent and had an unfortunate season at the Emirates.

He made 37 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side last season scoring one goal and making five assists.

According to reports, Willian has held talks with Corinthians on his return to Brazil this summer on a free transfer.

Arsenal are trying to offload £190,000-per-week salary from the wage books and the deal could go through in the final hours of the transfer window.

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the 33-year old is at an advanced stage and is evaluating his position at the moment.

‘We are having some conversations with him and the agent, and we are evaluating the position that we are in at the moment,’ Arteta said.

‘I don’t know [why it hasn’t worked out for him here].

‘At the moment he is an Arsenal player, and we are trying to get the best out of him while he is here. Anything different is just things that can happen.’
