Mikel Arteta doesn't trust everybody in his squad

Mikel Arteta accused of not trusting players in his dressing room.

The Gunners witnessed a disappointing last-minute 1-0 defeat at the hands of Porto on Wednesday night.

Mikel Arteta’s men failed to register a single shot on target and the Portuguese side outclassed Arsenal at the Estadio do Dragao.

They are currently in the Premier League title race along with Liverpool and Manchester City.

Arsenal made just one substitution during the tie, replacing Leandro Trossard for Jorginho in the second half.

Manchester City made 160 changes across 39 games this season, whereas Liverpool made a whopping 215 changes in the same number of matches.

But Arsenal has made only 99 changes in 36 matches and Chris Sutton believes Mikel Arteta doesn’t trust the squad all the way.

‘I take your point about the subs and Mikel Arteta not using as many as Manchester City and Liverpool,’ he said.

‘I suppose with Liverpool, they’ve had so many injuries anyway, but it comes down to having faith in the squad.

‘That probably tells you a fair bit about Mikel Arteta’s mindset that he doesn’t trust everybody implicitly.

‘Hence why, come the summer, we should probably expect to see him move in the market and try and get his squad strength up.’
