Alexandre Lacazette’s contract expires in the summer.

The Arsenal captain has been told to focus on finishing strong this season after Lacazette revealed that he opened talks with a number of clubs.

The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer and has been linked to regroup with his former club Lyon in the summer.

He admitted that he missed playing in the Champions League and has been in close contact with Lyon over a possible transfer.

“I want to play in Europe, it’s been a long time since I played in the Champions League too, so I miss it. Nothing is impossible in life but it’s a little more complicated [for Lyon without Europe].”

But Mikel Arteta seems to be not happy with his comments and discusses Lacazette’s contract situation.

“We have expressed clearly what our intention is – to speak in the summer once we know where we are, about what we are going to do in the future together,” Arteta said.

“And for the rest, I just want him fully focused on his duty, which is now defend Arsenal in the best possible way, like he has done all the time he has been with us.

“That’s why he has been wearing the armband of this football club, that’s a big reason.”
