Arsenal are unlikely to extend Alexandre Lacazette’s contract, reports have revealed

All Arsenal fans are aware that Alexandre Lacazette’s contract is set to expire in June, but given the club’s lack of striker options and the amount of game time Mikel Arteta has given him, many pundits believe it would be prudent for Arsenal to offer the Frenchman a one-year extension for next season.

The 30-year-old joined his hometown club Lyon as a 12-year-old and stayed there for the rest of his career before joining Arsene Wenger at Arsenal 5 years ago. Many people have suggested that he might like to return home after leaving the Gunners, and he has agreed that this is a possibility

Lacazette, who is out of contract at the end of the season, claimed this week that he is in talks with “a lot of teams” regarding his future. The Gunners, for their part, are eager to sell Lacazette’s contract so that it can be used elsewhere.

The Frenchman is currently on a weekly salary of £180,000 with the north London club. Arsenal has moved a number of high-earning players in recent transfer windows.

Lacazette will now follow the likes of David Luiz, Willian, Sead Kolasinac, Mesut Ozil, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in leaving the Emirates.

Jonathan David, Darwin Nunez, and Alexander Isak are all potential replacements for Lacazette.
