Arsenal has agreed to sign Kai Havertz for £67.5 million.

The Gunners are reportedly continuing their efforts on signing the German international before June 30.

Personal terms has been agreed between both player and club and Havertz is set to be Mikel Arteta’s first signing of the summer.

The 24-year-old has expressed his desire to not continue with Chelsea beyond the summer.

His contract with Chelse expires in the summer of 2025 and new manager Mauricio Pochettino is willing to allow Havertz leave.

But pundit Gabby Agbonlahor questions why Arsenal pursued Havertz who faced tremendous obscurity in England.

He told Football Insider: “He is not an out and out number nine, which what Arsenal need as they currently have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah but require an upgrade on them.

“Havertz hasn’t got that finishing instinct, so it is very strange from Arsenal if they are going to give £50-£60million to Chelsea, so they can then sign a player that the Gunners want in Moises Caicedo.

“It would be a wrong deal for the Gunners, and I am sure that their fans would agree.”
