Raphinha tipped to snub Arsenal in favour of Barcelona

Raphinha to join Barcelona this summer, despite strong links over a move from Leeds United to Arsenal

The winger has made a name for himself in the Premier League in recent years and helped retain the Elland Road club in the top division of English football ahead of the current campaign. His move may have been prevented by that triumph.

It is alleged that he and his agent Deco had already reached a personal agreement regarding a move to Barca, but the club struggled to meet the asking price of his current club after hoping to sign him for the relegation release clause that was anticipated to become active. His side ultimately managed to save themselves, however.

The Yorkshire club are reportedly establishing a high asking price for his signing, which was thought to have priced the Catalan club out of the competition. However, sources indicate that he still expects them to sign his man, but after delaying it until they have increased their budget via sales.

Although Leeds could find it difficult to get the alleged asking price, it almost feels as though the player is leveraging our reported interest to encourage others to make their move. Although it’s still possible, I wouldn’t be surprised if the player himself had to lobby for a release and lower his asking price.
