Sky Sports Pundit Alan Smith has had his take on the challenges that new Arsenal signing Denis Suarez might have to face at the north London club. He has said that the Barcelona loanee is far from cementing a starting spot at the Premier League club.

The Gunners had secured a deadline day deal for the out-of-favour Spaniard, who had gone down the pecking order at Barcelona under manager Ernesto Valverde. However, according to Smith, he would not be an automatic choice to start for his new club as well.

Elaborating his views on the player, the football expert said, “Arsenal fans would have loved to have seen a little bit more business in January, but they did manage to bring in Denis Suarez. How much will he play though? You would imagine he may be a bit of a squad player.”

He added, “Unai Emery knows him from Sevilla, he is versatile, while another young lad in Smith Rowe has gone out to Germany to get some game time. I do not think Emery would have given up on him and it will be good for his education, so hopefully he can come back a better player.”

Arsenal are set to take on reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in their next match.
