Thiago Silva On Arsenal's Radar As Defender Seeks New Club

Arsenal are thought to be one of the interested parties for Paris Saint-Germain captain, Thiago Silva.

The Brazilian will be out of contract this summer and is currently being wooed by a number of Premier League outfits.

Other than Arsenal, Newcastle United, Wolves, Everton and West Ham United are looking to bring in an experienced head like Silva. His years of service at the top-most level could be a big asset to any of these teams on a short-term basis. Silva is now 35 and nearing the end of his career. At best, he might have two more years left in the highest level of the sport.

The Premier League is definitely a big challenge but one, the centre-back could be up for. Arsenal have been crying out for a calm presence at the back for years. David Luiz very quickly proved that he is not that option, even though he has improved massively under Mikel Arteta.

Silva’s best traits have always been his composure and calculated decision-making in defending his goal line. But the veteran has expectedly slowed down over the years and might be a huge gamble for Arsenal’s immediate needs. Prior to getting anybody, the Gunners also need to clear out a number of players from the centre-back position. Silva’s wages are bound to be an issue as well during these tough financial times for the football club.
