Henrikh Mkhitaryan claims that Arsenal are not solely focusing on a top-four Premier League finish this season.
The Armenian midfielder struck once and laid out an assist during the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Southampton last weekend. This helped Unai Emery’s men to move a point above Manchester United in the standings and also into the Champions League qualification spots.
With 11 games still left in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign, it is uncertain as to how the table will look in May but Arsenal are prepared to go against the likes of Chelsea and United to claim one of the top four spots.
After the weekend fixture, Mkhitaryan said, “We are not looking at the table at the moment because we still have lots of games to play. The most important is to be focused and to be ready for every game because we are not going to think that we are in the top four and nothing will change.”
“We just have to keep working and trying to our best to win three points in every game. [The top four] is not the main thing at the moment. The season is not done we still have lots of games to play.”
“The most important thing is to stay focused and keep winning games. Everything is possible.”
Arsenal are due to take on Bournemouth at the Emirates on Wednesday night.
