Two men were arrested outside Mesut Ozil’s house in connection to the knife attack.
Ozil and Kolasinac have been left out of Arsenal’s squad to take on Newcastle over security incidents.
On July 25, footage emerged showing Ozil’s car getting jumped by two thugs with knives. But Kolasinac, who was standing outside of the car at the time, confronted the pair eventually getting rid of them.
It looked as though the pair had got a very lucky escape. While that may have been the case on the day, it seems the incident is far from over.
According to The Telegraph, two men were arrested on Thursday night after getting into an altercation with security staff patrolling the German’s north London residence.
A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: “Two men have been charged under Section 4a of the Public Order Act following an incident in Camden on Thursday, 8 August.
“Ferhat Ercan, 27, of Highgate, and Salaman Ekinci, 27, of Tottenham, were charged on August 9 following the incident and are due to appear at Highbury Corner magistrates’ court on 6 September.”
Arsenal released a statement on Friday evening explaining their absence from the first weekend of Premier League action, stating: “Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac will not be part of the squad for our opening match against Newcastle United following further security incidents which are being investigated by the police.
Arsenal have been keen to treat the matter sensitively and both players were given time off afterwards but this latest development comes after reports of new threats emerged
Ozil and Kolasinac did not train on Friday ahead of the trip to Newcastle after receiving further threats and both have been left traumatized and in shock by the incidents.
