Arsenal boss Unai Emery said that he liked Mesut Ozil’s reaction after his substitution against Crystal Palace yesterday.
Arsenal’s 11-match winning streak came to an end after they drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace. The most painful thing about the result is that both of Crystal Palace’s goals came from spot-kicks.
Ozil captained Arsenal in the match and played for 68 minutes before Danny Welbeck replaced him.
The former Germany international seemed a bit upset after the substitution. When Unai Emery patted him on the stomach, he didn’t even look at him and took of his gloves, throwing them out of frustration.
Emery said, “It’s normal, that a player is not happy. I’m not happy because the result was not good at the end.
I like the players showing character when we are not playing well. When I chose him to take him off, it was 2-1 to us – usually every player wants to continue playing. I am disappointed that our good run has ended. But we are in a process, and in a good position now to achieve our objectives.
The team can improve. We want to win each match, but Palace are a good team, and it is never easy here. But our challenge is every match to continue to learn our process, and improve.”
Arsenal’s next match is an even tougher one as they will take on Liverpool on Saturday at the Emirates.
