Arsenal closing in on dynamic winger!

Arsenal are reportedly in the frame to sign former FC Porto winger Yacine Brahimi.

The Algerian ran down his contract at FC Porto yesterday and is currently a free agent. Brahimi joined FC Porto from Spanish side Granada back in 2014 and has enjoyed a successful spell with the Portuguese side.

In 209 matches for Porto, Brahimi has scored 53 goals. He enjoyed his most productive personal season in the recently concluded 2018-19 one where he scored 13 goals in 49 appearances while he was also instrumental the season before when he helped FC Porto win the domestic Portuguese league for 2017-18.

Brahimi is currently 29 years old and will know he has enough age left for one last big contract before his decline starts. Arsenal are believed to be chasing him now and although he would come for free, the personal terms with the player is still a stumbling block and far from agreed.

Arsenal desperately need to strengthen their team, with the wing position being of particular concern. However, the Gunners’ owners Kroenke and co are playing hardball once again as they have allowed Emery a joke of a budget to buy players with this summer.

It means Arsenal will find it unlikely to land players like Zaha especially when they need multiple reinforcements, making someone like Brahimi a signing of great importance for them.
