According to the latest reports, Arsenal are expressing a strong interest in Felipe Anderson.
West Ham United’s record signing from Lazio, Anderson has definitely found it a struggle to fit into the squad this season.
An injury to his back has mostly stolen his case for natural selection but otherwise, he seems to be a misfit in David Moyes’ system. Anderson’s lack of defensive input sometimes makes him a passenger to the game. The Hammers are planning to shift things around after a disastrous season and their prized winger could be on his way out.
This report is hard to believe since Arsenal are not short of options on the flank. With Willian coming over from Chelsea, Mikel Arteta has a string of players to choose from next season – Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson, Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith-Rowe. Anderson at 27, is another name who is bound to make the fans uneasy.
Not to mention his relation to Kia Joorbichan, the agent who has notoriously overseen almost every transfer two the club over the past two years. Anderson is managed by Bertolucci Sports, who work closely with Kia’s Sports Invest UK Ltd. Arsenal are in the midst of a major shakeup and it would not make any sense to sign Anderson out of the blue.
There are other areas where the club clearly needs to address, starting with the defence and central midfield. Otherwise, fans are still waiting on news of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang extending his contract.
