Arsenal Make Enquiries About Joaquin Correa

Arsenal have reportedly expressed an interest in Joaquin Correa.

Mikel Arteta is aiming to bolster his attacking ranks this summer and Correa fits the bill.

Lazio, unfortunately, want €35m for the forward whereas, The Gunners began talks with just €20m. He cost Lazio €16m in itself three years back when he switched from Sevilla.

Correa is not necessarily a prolific goalscorer but he hit his best form last season. The Argentine propped up 19 goal contributions, helping Lazio qualify for the Champions League.

Arsenal are at their wits end when it comes to their attackers. Both star forwards, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are into their 30s now. The latter just underwent a poor season only after being handed a mammoth £350,000-per-week contract.

Lacazette also has just one more year left on his contract and is not known to be a consistent scorer. If Arsenal are to improve their attack next term, something has to change. Chances are that Lacazette could be offloaded for a younger option.

Is Correa the best option for Arsenal? Many would argue otherwise. The Gunners need to address more key issues in midfield and in defence. Without the right creative force, no striker will be able to get off the mark for this team. Plus, Correa won’t be an immediate upgrade from the options Arsenal have at hand.
