Arsenal To Loan Out William Saliba To Championship Outfit

Arsenal are looking to loan out William Saliba to a Championship club this week.

While the European market has closed for transfers, English teams can still buy, sell or loan players within the domestic community.

That means Saliba could end up in a second-tier club for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign. A deadline day move to Saint Etienne did not materialise due to time constraints and complications over a deal. The Ligue 1 outfit were prepared to take him back on a season-long loan but could not meet Arsenal’s demands.

Mikel Arteta believes the 19-year-old should be involved in regular games but unfortunately, cannot provide him that at North London. For some reason, Saliba has still not won the manager’s trust, enough to start even in cup games.

Sitting on the bench or playing for the U23s might not aid his development as a loan spell would in a reputed league. Playing in the Championship will more than help Saliba get better acquainted to the local community and break the language barrier.

Arsenal have until the 16th of October to find Saliba a suitable club. Without him, Arsenal will unlikely suffer. Arteta has a string of options at centre-back in David Luiz, Rob Holding, Gabriel Magalhaes, Pablo Mari, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
