The Athletic journalist David Ornstein confirmed the London club’s interest during a recent appearance on the FC Podcast, revealing that the Gunners have been tracking the young talent for several months.
“I think there is some interest from Arsenal in Rio Ngumoha,” Ornstein said.
“I’m sure many clubs are interested in him because he is a very talented player.”
Ornstein further noted that Arsenal’s admiration for the teenager dates back to the summer transfer window.
However, he cautioned that Liverpool have no intention of letting their academy star leave Anfield.
The Merseyside club view Ngumoha as a key part of their future and are eager to secure his long-term services.
Ngumoha’s current contract runs until 2028, but negotiations over a new deal have yet to reach a conclusion.
“Liverpool want to extend his contract,” Ornstein explained.
“As far as I know, there is no agreement on a new contract yet.”
This contractual stalemate could potentially open the door for Arsenal, though Liverpool remain in a strong negotiating position given the length of his existing deal.
The 18-year-old has impressed many with his rapid development at Liverpool, establishing himself as one of the club’s most promising young players.
His performances at youth level have attracted attention from several top clubs, but Arsenal appear to be leading the chase should an opportunity arise.
Arsenal are set to face Baku side Sabah in the league phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League.
