Martin Odegaard is set to join Arsenal on a permanent deal.

The 22-year old spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at the North London club from Madrid and was really impressive in most of the games.

Mikel Arteta is determined to bring the player back to the Emirates and are on the brink of an agreement for his transfer.

He was absent from Real Madrid’s training session on Wednesday as he is poised to make a return at the North London club.

Sky Sports journalist Alvaro Montero has given his update on Odegaard joining Arsenal.

“Real Madrid knows that Arsenal is a huge possibility because economically they have enough for the player,” said Montero.

“We have to remember when Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the future of Martin Odegaard, he feels in the same path as the club.

“He said there are eight midfielders, so players like Isco, Asensio, Sergio Arribas and even Dani Cabellos. It seems they are all before Martin Odegaard.

“He hasn’t a number. If you saw Real Madrid’s website right now, Martin Odegaard has no number. It seems he is going to leave and Arsenal is a huge possibility.”
