Mesut Ozil Slammed For 'Embarrassing' Display For Arsenal

Former Chelsea striker and also an analyst for the Europa League final, Eidur Gudjhonsen slammed Mesut Ozil for his behaviour last night.

The German got the nod to start for Arsenal since Aaron Ramsey got ruled out with injury. This was a massive chance for Ozil, who often gets criticized for his performances, to prove himself to the club’s fans and to Unai Emery as well.

Instead, the attacking midfielder was mostly absent throughout his time on the pitch and then decided to trudge off the field in the most dramatic fashion when his team is down by 3 goals and there are only 13 minutes left on the clock.

“The one thing is you tell me if you’re the manager of Arsenal… you’re 4-1 down in the final you take Ozil off and he’s walking at the slowest pace like he’s waiting for a standing ovation,” an exasperated Gudjhonsen declared.

“I’m sorry if that’s me I’d feel embarrassed, head down and I sprint off the pitch. He’s a wonderful player, tremendous quality but as a manager, I could never watch that in my team.”

After getting called off the pitch, Ozil proceeded to walk back into his benches and was noticed mouthing off at Emery, expressing his frustration.

Ozil’s reaction upon getting substituted was not only shameful but it was also disrespectful towards the manager and the entire football club. Fans have run out of their patience with the £350,000-per-week midfielder and are demanding that he be sold off this summer.
