Kieran Tierney, a defender for Arsenal, has been mentioned in transfer rumours this summer

In pursuit of consistent playing time, the 25-year-old Scottish international defender has to leave the North London club where he battled to get into games last year.

According to a Football Insider report, it is quite likely that the player would leave Arsenal, and Newcastle is in the lead to sign him. In all competitions last season, the Arsenal defender started just 15 games, which is too few for a player of his calibre.

He was demoted in the Arsenal hierarchy by the acquisition of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, and Mikel Arteta is unlikely to start him much in the coming season. Nuno Tavares will find it challenging to get into games because he is expected to return to Arsenal after his loan stint as well. Tierney would be an excellent left back for Newcastle, who could use a solid left back badly.

Prior to joining Arsenal, the 25-year-old Scottish player demonstrated his talent, and he more than qualified to play in the Premier League. Newcastle played left-back with Dan Burn last season, but they may use a more qualified option there. In the future, Tierney might show to be an improvement over Burn. The 25-year-old is still developing and is probably going to get better with guidance and experience.

Newcastle’s daily game schedule can bring out the best in the defence. The Magpies will be an alluring destination for Tierney because they have qualified for the Champions League. One of the richest clubs in the world, they have the resources to complete the transaction.
