Arsenal have announced the signing of Nicolas Pepe from Lille. Pepe’s transfer fee is reportedly £72 million, a club record, surpassing the £56 million the club paid Borussia Dortmund to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last January.

Pepe had an extraordinary 18/19 season with Lille, scoring 23 goals and providing 12 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. His performances earned Pepe a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season.

Upon his signing, Gunners manager Unai Emery told Arsenal’s official website: “Nicolas is a highly-rated and talented winger who was wanted by many of the top teams in Europe. Signing a top-class winger has been one of our key objectives in this transfer window and I’m delighted he’s joining.

He will add pace, power and creativity, with the aim of bringing more goals to our team.”

Pepe will be a suitable addition to Arsenal‘s squad and there’s no doubt that Arsenal’s chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League will increase.

The Ivorian winger will wear the No.19 shirt for Arsenal.
