The two were part of City staff not so long ago.

Now the Citizens manager has been question over his relationship with Arteta.

Pep Guardiola and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta met at Barcelona’s La Masia academy and have been friends since. The two worked together at Manchester City before the latter moved to Arsenal. Now Pep confirmed they are still in regular contact.

He also revealed Arteta has been struggling since taking over at the Emirates. Pep Guardiola has admitted that he misses Mikel Arteta but wishes him the best at Arsenal. When asked about his former assistant during a press conference, Guardiola replied: “Of course [I miss Arteta]. We had an incredible relationship together, we are in touch quite often by phone.

“He’s so excited, so happy, struggling because it’s not easy to take a team in the beginning. But he’s doing incredibly well, on and off the pitch. He decided to move, I always want the best for people I love. He decided that and I wish him all the best, he knows that.”

Shortly after his retirement in 2016, Arteta joined Pep’s staff at Manchester City. The two first met at Barcelona’s La Masia academy and they have become great friends to this day.
