The Reason Behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Getting Left Out Of Starting Lineup

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery revealed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been recovering from an illness over the past couple of weeks.

The Gabon international is the Gunners’ highest scorer this season with 22 goals in 41 appearances. He has also registered 7 assists.

Emery had kept Aubameyang out of the starting lineup for the past two Premier League games against Newcastle United and Everton which led to plenty of questions from the media and the fans.

When asked about his condition ahead of the Europea league tie, the Arsenal manager said, “He’s getting better and can start. He had a small problem and he has taken antibiotics for his illness. That’s the main reason he didn’t start those two matches.”

Emery will also have to decide on fielding either Granit Xhaka and Laurent Koscielny, both of whom are making a comeback from minor injuries.

“We are always demanding of ourselves, for me playing under pressure is normal,” Emery added. “We are being consistent a lot at the moment. This match is a big-level match, and the level we want to play. It’s a very big test for us in this competition.

“We want to play the best teams and Napoli now is one of the best teams, with the best players and also a very experienced coach.”
