Ruben Neves is on Arsenal’s radar for a summer move.

Reports indicate that negotiations have begun between The Gunners and Wolverwhampton Wanderers.

Arsenal also have reportedly forwarded personal terms to Neves’ representatives, awaiting a response. Mikel Arteta wants to bring home a technically gifted distributor like Neves in his ranks. He could partner Thomas Partey at the very heart of Arsenal’s engine room.

Wolves are in a strong negotiating postion with Neves’ contract set to run until June 2024. He is 24 and enjoying his prime. The Portuguese international was a part of Wolves’ rise from the Championship and has been a consistent performer ever since. His price tag has been set at £45m which is an attractive price in this market.

Arsenal will still want to lower that fee to accomodate other signings. They are due to announce the signing of Alber Lokonga soon for £18m plus add-ons. They also signed Nuno Tavares from Benfica for £7m. A potential signing of Ben White should cost upwards of £50m.

The recomposition plans are clearly taking shape and Arsenal are expected to spend heavy this summer. But is Neves the best choice to replace Granit Xhaka? He definitely has an impressive resume in the Premier League and has improved consistently over the past seasons.
