Unai Emery Admits Arsenal Left-Back Leaving Is A Real Possibility

Unai Emery worryingly revealed that there is a strong possibility of all rumours regarding Nacho Monreal being true.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Real Sociedad and reports claim a deal is close to being completed.

A deep ringing sound of concern might be going off in the heads of all Arsenal fans as this move could end up being catastrophic. While Monreal is 33 years old, he is still very important to this football club.

“With Nacho there is one possibility that’s open and we’re going to speak about that,” Emery admitted. “He made a very big match (against Liverpool), very big match, and he’s a very big professional for us.

“It’s one issue, we need to speak the next days because in Europe the transfer window isn’t finished yet. But we are going to speak about all the situation, the possibility.”

The versatile left-back has been on the only consistent defenders for Arsenal over the past few seasons. With him gone, there will be yet another defensive lapse the club will have to address.

The Gunners will be left with only Sead Kolasinac in the left-back post since Kieran Tierney is out injured for the time being. That would leave Tolai Bola as the only other backup option, who has only featured in pre-season and for the club’s U23 side.

Monreal is integral to the club’s seasonal objective of acquiring Champions League football. The profit from his sale (if there will be any) will be completely inconsequential in the long run since he only has as few more months left in his contract.
